Star of the Week!

Updated: Nov 19, 2020

Hello Gold Star Revolution Squad!

It's that time again – Gold Star Friday! Time to announce our Star of the Week!

Future Stars of the Week will be chosen from reader nominations!  But since we are at the beginning of this project, I will be the one nominating our Friday Star of the Week until the time when nominations from readers start to roll in.

Please send me your nominations, and please see the end of this post for more details on how to do that! All recipients of the Star of the Week award who live in the US will receive a free gift from my Gold Star Award Winner collection** on Zazzle!

I am thrilled to announce that our Star for this week is my dear friend Lori! I know for a fact that Gold Star Revolution would not exist without her!

Lori and I met in the late 1990's, but we have lived a good distance apart for almost 20 years now. We kept in very loose touch for a number of years, but we started to seriously reconnect back in 2017.

We now "see" each other at least once a week, and sometimes more than that, via video chat. We started our weekly video calls way back in the fall of 2018, well before Zoom and other video platforms became popular during the COVID-19 pandemic.

So why have I chosen Lori as my nominee for this week's Star of the Week? What is it that I appreciate the most about her?

Knowing Lori has had a HUGE impact on my life! She has played a major role in my personal development over the past two years or so, especially because she and I are our own little two-person book club!

We mostly read spiritual and motivational books, i.e. non-fiction. One of my personal favorites from the books we have read so far is Buddha's Brain: The Practical Neuroscience of Happiness, Love and Wisdom by Rick Hanson. I can't say enough good things about this book!

What I love about reading books with Lori is that we break everything we read down into smaller chunks. We usually read one to three chapters a week depending on their length and then discuss just those particular chapters.

I have found that I get a lot more out of books and retain much more information this way than I do from a traditional book club format. Our discussions are so in depth! It does take us awhile for us to finish each book, but it is so worth the extra time when the book is a great one!

Discussing these books with Lori has seriously improved the quality of my life! I have learned so much about myself and have gotten clearer on how I want to move forward in the world based on the insights gained during our time together. And it is extremely important for me to note that the idea for Gold Star Revolution came to me as a direct result of my discussions with Lori! ⭐

Lori is a very positive person!!! Way more positive than I am. Without fail, I feel uplifted after every single one of our discussions. No exceptions, even when one or the other of us isn't having the best day. I think it is rare to find a friendship like that!

Lori is a fabulous listener who gives you her full attention and is interested in what you have to say. I never have to wonder if her mind is elsewhere when we talk. It's very nourishing to interact with someone who is truly present with you.

Lori is a delightful, energetic person, and her enthusiasm is contagious! She is super funny, and she loves to laugh. She has a bold personality and is definitely not afraid to stand out from the crowd.

She has the best left/right brain balance of anyone I know – logical and analytical while being creative and intuitive at the same time. She is trained as an architect and a lawyer, but she is also an equally talented painter and singer. She is interested in such a wide variety of topics that it's always fun to have a conversation with her.

She might not want me to tell you this, but for any of you who are familiar with the Enneagram, she is a Type 2, which means she is a "helper." There is no doubt in my mind that she is a very caring and generous person (two of the qualities that are associated with this type).

She is a wonderful parent who has raised an amazing son. Being a mother has not been easy for her due to the physical issues her son has experienced from a young age.

I am a better human being because of my relationship with Lori, and I am so incredibly grateful for her friendship. I am honored to present this week's Star of the Week award to Lori! Congratulations my friend! You certainly deserve a gold star!

Lori and I haven't been in the same location very often over the past two decades, but this is a picture of us from our most recent visit together back in September 2017. I think that you can actually feel her glow radiating from this picture!

Please join me in congratulating Lori as our Star of the Week!
