Star of the Week: Buffy Taylor!
Updated: Nov 16, 2020
Hello Gold Star Revolution squad members and welcome to Gold Star Friday! It's time to announce our Star of the Week!
Future Stars of the Week will be chosen from reader nominations! But since we are at the beginning of this project, I will be the one nominating our Friday Star of the Week until the time when nominations from readers start to roll in.
Please send me your nominations, and please see the end of this post for more details on how to do that! All recipients of the Star of the Week award who live in the US are eligible to receive a free gift from my Gold Star Award Winner collection** on Zazzle!
This week's Star is a dear friend who provides me with so much creative inspiration! I am very excited to introduce you to Buffy Taylor! And, yes, Buffy is her real name!!
It is incredibly fitting that Buffy is this week's Star because today is our friend-a-versary! Buffy and I met exactly 4 years ago today, on November 6, 2016.
As has been the case with a couple of our recent stars, I met Buffy through one of my girlfriend events. Our first meeting was at the North Carolina Museum of Art, which in retrospect was a very fitting place for our initial meetup for reasons you will soon see below. We went to see an outdoor exhibit of large, inflatable bunnies!
Buffy is such an amazing, gifted person! She is a highly talented emerging artist. After working as a web developer for a while, she started her career in the visual arts just a few years ago.
She is primarily a painter, but she has worked in other areas like costume design. She has even turned some of her pieces into incredibly cute stickers!
Buffy is super passionate about her current path in life, and that is one of the things that I admire most about her! She absolutely loves what she does, and it shows in all of her creations!
Being an artist is usually not a quick and easy path to success. Buffy entered this field knowing what she was up against, but she dove in head first, and she is determined to make it work! I have rarely encountered someone with as much dedication and persistence as Buffy, and I am constantly amazed and inspired by her!
Buffy is very flexible, which is another quality that I think you definitely need to be an artist! She is willing to explore different artistic mediums, and she is always open to a new path. If she hits a dead end, she pivots and then energetically heads in another direction. Her enthusiasm is contagious!
Buffy has such a warm and wonderful spirit! I think that people naturally gravitate to her. She is kind and generous as well, and she has donated her artwork to various local charitable organizations. She has a sweet, gentle nature, and she looks to find the good in everyone.
Because I worked as an attorney for so many years, I have a lot of friends who are lawyers, former lawyers, or who work in the legal field. It is SO refreshing to have a friend who is not associated with the legal world in any way. Talking with Buffy always inspires me as I continue to pursue a path of entrepreneurship and self-employment, and she motivates me to think outside the box. Being with Buffy is like a breath of fresh air, and that means the world to me!
Please do me a favor and check out all of Buffy's art on her website! You can also follow her on Instagram and Facebook.
Buffy and another artist were very recently chosen to paint a large, outdoor mural for the town of Benson, NC. It is the town's very first public mural, which is pretty awesome! Check out this cool time-lapse video that Buffy recorded while creating the mural! They are still working on it as of the date of this post, but it should be finished very soon!
I can't wait to see what the future has in store for Buffy and her career!
I am so excited to present Buffy with the Star of the Week award! Congratulations my beautiful and talented friend!
It's time to see some pictures of our Star! I have included a couple of pics from Buffy's shows and a cute one of us at a partial solar eclipse party back in 2017! Buffy is such a fun friend, and she is always up for anything! The photo at the bottom is one that I took of a small part of a mural that Buffy painted at a collaborative art and music space in downtown Raleigh called Imurj.
Please join me in congratulating Buffy Taylor as our Star of the Week!
