Hello Gold Star Revolution Squad! It's Friday, which means that it is time to announce our Star of the Week!
As you may know, we are still in the early days of this project, which launched just a couple of months ago at the beginning of August. Because of this, I have been the person who has been providing the nominations for the Star of the Week award. From the beginning, however, my hope has always been that readers would want to send in their own nominations for Star of the Week.
I am SO pleased to say that this is the first week where our Star has been chosen from a reader nomination!
Hector was nominated for the award by one of his dear friends, and this is what she has to say about him:
Hector deserves a shower of gold stars! He has a heart of gold and is someone I can count on no matter what the need. He does good deeds without accolades. It’s time he got one!
Hector was one of the first people to welcome me to our church. He was like a long lost brother and we bonded immediately. He and his husband have served as elves and went into our church after hours to decorate spectacularly for the winter holidays. What a delight to enter the sanctuary after they decorated it!
Hector’s heart of gold shined especially bright when he picked up my mother and me from the airport after her emergency surgery while on vacation in Florida. She and I were both quite weary, and my husband was home with our son who was recovering on crutches from a deep puncture wound to his foot.
It was February in Boston and very cold, especially compared to Florida. Not only did he pick us up, he thought to bring a fluffy orange blanket to wrap my ailing mother. To this day I can recall the visceral relief I felt once I was under Hector’s care.
I could go on and on about all the good deeds Hector does without asking. He anticipates what needs to happen and does it without being asked. He is kind and generous and very thoughtful.
Please make Hector a star of the week!

This nomination is such a wonderful tribute to Hector! It is exactly what I was hoping for when I started Gold Star Revolution, and I hope that it will inspire more readers to openly appreciate the important people in their lives.
