Star of the Week: Nikki of Rovértos Designs!

Hello Gold Star Revolution Squad, and welcome to Gold Star Friday! It's time to announce our Star of the Week!

My very strong preference is to choose our Star of the Week from reader nominations! However, I will nominate the Star of the Week when there are no reader nominations to pick from, which is the case this week.

I find it fascinating that some, if not many, of our relationships evolve out of social media these days. Interacting with others on Facebook, Instagram, etc. or as part of an online class can sometimes lead us to feel a closeness with people we've never met in person. It's amazing that we can feel supported and cared for by people even when we've never had an actual verbal conversation with them.

This is exactly how I feel about this week's Star. I am thrilled to introduce you to my friend Nikki of Rovértos Designs!!💜

I'm not sure that I accurately remember how or even when I met Nikki online. I signed up for a number of free classes/challenges back in the fall of 2020, several of which had private Facebook groups associated with them. My best guess is that I met her through one of those, possibly through BossBabe.

In any event, we started following each other's Instagram accounts, and Nikki has probably been my most loyal follower there. She essentially comments on every single thing that I post on Instagram.

This is something that I am SO grateful for and that I appreciate immensely. Social media and marketing are really not my strong suits, and sometimes I dread the process of coming up with new things to post. But I am always comforted by the fact that no matter what my content is, I know that I will get at least one comment from Nikki, and that her comment will be kind and supportive!

I try to do the same for her (check out her Instagram account here), although I do think that I let a post or two fall through the cracks here and there. And I'm pretty sure that I miss the vast majority of her Instagram stories/reels because I'm so lame that I tend to focus only on people's feeds!

Another thing that I love about Nikki is that she is such a creative person! Much in the same way that I started Gold Star Revolution during the pandemic, Nikki also started a project during that time: Rovértos Designs!

I hope that you will check out her shop! She has designed a fun series of notebooks and cards, many of which have an adult beverage theme (woot!). And she recently launched a collection of inspirational You Matter bracelets that I think are really awesome!

Nikki is a very funny and talented writer as well, and she took to her blog during the pandemic to help raise people's spirits. I very much appreciate that she was there giving me something to smile about! 😁

I think that what I love most about Nikki's products is that 10% of all of her sales are donated to a mental health charity called Mind. Although many of Nikki's blog posts are on the lighter side, she has also been vulnerable and honest in her posts about her mental health struggles.

I am incredibly inspired by her commitment to encourage people to seek help if they are experiencing mental health problems. And since May is mental health month, I think that this is a very appropriate time to call attention to Nikki's efforts!

So even though I am guessing that I am old enough to be her mother, and even though she lives in a faraway land (South Wales!), I consider Nikki to be a good friend. And a very fashionable one at that!! I totally admire her fashion sense because I really don't have one!

Time for our Star of the Week photos! I don't have a picture of Nikki and me together since we have never met in person, so we will have to settle for a few from Nikki's photoshoot for her new line of bracelets!
