Hello Gold Star Revolution Squad, and welcome to Gold Star Friday! It's time for the Gold Star of the Week award!
As I mentioned in my last Star of Week post back in March, it is nice to acknowledge people we don't know all that well (or maybe who we don't know at all!) for small acts of kindness that they perform for us. While it's fabulous to appreciate our family and our friends, it's also important to acknowledge the anonymous people around us who help our lives run smoothly, like the cashiers at your grocery store or the electric company workers who restore our power when it's gone out.
Today, I am appreciating all of the health care workers who have been doing so much good for so many people during the pandemic. I was inspired to acknowledge health care workers today because my husband and I are now fully vaccinated, and I am incredibly grateful for how smooth the entire process was.
I really wanted to cement the memory of getting the second shot in my mind because it was a momentous occasion for me. So for the big day, I decided to wear my Gold Star Revolution t-shirt (WOOT!). I also decided to give spread some Gold Star Revolution love by giving the two nurses who assisted us a gift – Gold Star magnets! They seemed completely surprised and touched by my gesture.
We need SO many other people to help get us through this life, and I was incredibly thankful that these women who were strangers to Tom and me were willing to help us in this way.
Maybe someday soon things will be back to "normal," but I will never forget the kindness and generosity of our healthcare workers during this time! I am proud to honor all of our healthcare professionals as this week's Stars of the Week!
