When the Going Gets Tough . . . .

Hello Gold Star Revolution squad! It's time for Tune Up Tuesday!

WOW, last week was quite the rough week here in the US, wasn't it?! The uncertainty, the drama, the nail biting. You may have experienced a roller coaster of emotions last week, and maybe you are still experiencing them now. Regardless of whether your candidate(s) won or lost, many people in this country are feeling fearful, angry, disappointed, and some are even filled with dread.

Now that the election appears to be over (minus the legal challenges), we have a lot of hard work ahead of us as a country. America is a nation divided in so many ways politically, economically, and racially, just to name a few. The fact that it has taken so long to determine the winner of the presidential election tells us that.

So what do we do? How can we heal this nation?

It would be SO easy to throw up our hands in this situation. To become depressed, despondent, to feel hopeless. What can one person do to heal the great divide in our country?

It is true that a single person cannot control legislation, economic policies, police departments, and a whole slew of other things.

However, there are plenty of things that are in our control our thoughts, our speech, and our actions.

We cannot expect the world to heal if we are not treating ourselves and those around us in a caring and respectful manner. This includes both the people we agree with and the people that we disagree with.

Now more than ever, we need to act in accordance with our values and morals on a daily basis. We need to be the change we wish to see in the world, as clichéd as that might sound.

It is possible for us to bring about change, one small step at a time. One person at a time. One family at a time. One community at a time.

In times like these, we can draw inspiration from the old adage:

When the going gets tough, the tough get going!

It is definitely time for us to "get going!" What is one small step that you can take today to bring about the change that you want to see?
