HOW THE REVOLUTION BEGAN
Hi! I’m Tricia. I started Gold Star Revolution because I believe that modern life is causing us to feel lonelier than ever. Even though we are more “connected” to each other than ever before through social media, that connection often feels superficial. Many people, including myself, often feel a disconnect from others in today’s society.
But I want to be seen. I want you to know who I really am. And I want to know who you really are.
That’s why I created this site.
I want this to be a welcoming place. A place where we can celebrate each other. A place where we can acknowledge and share both the ups and the downs in our lives.
As I launch this project in August 2020, our global situation feels dystopian, even dire. The Coronavirus has forced us to keep our distance from other people, and tempers have been flaring as the Black Lives Matter movement and other political issues force us to rethink the basic fabric of society.
During times like these, it is easy to allow ourselves to be swept away by feelings of helplessness and despair. But now more than ever, we need to acknowledge what is good and decent in ourselves and others on a regular basis. This is not a flashy or earth-shattering practice, but I believe it is one small step that each of us can take to help make the world a better place.
One of my biggest wishes is that visiting this site will reinvigorate you and give you a fresh commitment to being the best you can be! I also hope it will allow you to become more honest with yourself – that it will inspire you to recognize all the good things you do and that it will also inspire you to sit with your most difficult feelings.
Whenever we experience something that leaves us not feeling good inside, it is actually our souls asking us to provide even more love and compassion to ourselves. If you accept everything about yourself and your life, all the things you like as well as the ones you don’t, you are bound to grow as a person. Let’s feel all the feels together in a space of kindness!
